With summer in full swing, it means one of two things: You're super busy or you have a lot of time on your hands. Whether it's either one of those scenarios, keep your best interest in mind when it comes to planning your time. Camarillo Health Care District is here to help, offering a number of classes and presentations, in addition to programs and services.

If you're looking to incorporate more exercise and activity into your life, we offer Gentle Yoga on Monday afternoons and Tuesday mornings. In addition, we have a Walking Group that meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and we offer Tai Chi for Arthritis as a twice-a-week, 10-week series. Bingocize and Matter of Balance also offer an exercise component. For more information on these offerings, call 805-388-1952 or visit our website.

If you want to incorporate summer travel, but you're short on time, consider virtual travel. Our award-winning Adventures in Virtual Reality Program offers many travel adventures, including visits to the 7 Wonders of the World, and a VR Travel Club that features four 75-minute, weekly guided tours.

Week 1 is "European Vacation" with guided tours of Italy, a solar eclipse watch party, a stroll through an arboretum,  as well as a concert. Week 2 is "French Fantasy" with a tour of Cannes, Nice, Paris, Marseille and Avignon, a race around Provence and you'll go on a sunset sail. Week 3 is "South American Adventure" with a tour of Bogota, a hike of Patagonia French Valley, tour of Santiago De Cali, tour of Medelin, a sunrise timelapse in Patagonia, and you'll top it off with a flyover one of the 7 Wonders of the World, Christ the Redeemer. Finally, in Week 4, you'll be "Marveling at the Middle East." We've planned a gyrocopter tour of Dubai, bus tour of the city, tour of Tel Aviv, Bethlehem and Oman, and a camel ride in the Sahara. A bonus will be watching bathing elephants.

If you are interested in virtual reality but want to have one foot grounded in real life, we also offer VR Activity Club, which blends both worlds. Our club held on Mondays, Aug. 4-25, offers four weeks of virtual adventures based on themes and each class ends with a hands-on activity IRL (in real life!).

In August, we have "A Day at Sea" planned with a whale-watching adventure in Hawaii, kayaking at sunset and our activity is based on favorite water sports. "Summer Holiday" includes a tour of renowned lighthouses around the world, a road trip on the iconic Route 66 and an activity that incorporates music. "Trip to Paradise on Aug. 18 will be a virtual trip to Portugal, tour of the Azores region, Ponta Delgada and a day at the beach. Your activity will be to recreate a Portuguese landscape. On the final day, you'll relax with the theme "Nature's Healing Touch." Embark on a transformative exploration of mental well-being. Find solace in guided meditations amidst Madeira's lush greenery, conquer inner peaks while hiking the Pico Ruivo Trail, and discover Zen sanctuaries worldwide, nurturing your mind, body and spirit. For your activity, we'll use the meditation VR application "Breathe."
