District teams up with Camarillo Library for unique opportunity

This will be the lightest packing you’ve ever done for a worldwide travel adventure. Just pack some enthusiasm and curiosity as Camarillo Health Care District and Camarillo Public Library team up, as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program, to bring you “Summer Reading Adventure: Immersive Virtual Reality Experience."

Register in advance for the July 23 and July 30 programs. There will be two offerings, 5-5:30 p.m. and 5:30-6 p.m. both days. Anyone 13 and older is welcome. No experience necessary.

It will be a trip of a lifetime as staff from Camarillo Health Care District equip you with a VR headset before taking you on virtual adventures in South America and across Europe, various coastal cities, as well as tours through Easter European castles. Everyone will be on the same excursion as staff navigate for you.

Using VR technology offers participants a full sense of “being there” through immersive headsets and software applications. These adventures feature video and guided tours of historic and culturally significant places. It’s a great alternative to travel for anyone with mobility issues or for those who want the adventure without spending the money.

To reserve your seat, register on the library’s website.

The experience will be offered in the Homework Center at the library, 4101 Las Posas Road in Camarillo. There are only six seats available for each session, so sign up while there’s still room.

Camarillo Health Care District offers dozens of VR classes at beginner and intermediate levels. Cost ranges from $5-$10 for a single class to $30 for a four-week series. For more information about classes at the District, visit our website.
