Camarillo Health Care District Celebrates 50 Years of Service

October 29, 2019, VENTURA COUNTY – Camarillo Health Care District will celebrate 50 years of service during an Open House celebration on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 3:30pm-5:30pm, at 3639 E. Las Posas Road, Building E, Suite 117, in Camarillo, and featuring the award-winning Adult Day and Caregiver Centers.  All are welcome; no charge.

Camarillo Health Care District was established in October of 1969, and has served the ever-increasing community health needs since then.  In the early 1990s, by act of the California State Legislature, and in recognition that health care is effectively served beyond hospital walls, the name “hospital district” was changed to “health care district”, and services were expanded to include community-based health and wellness programs. The District has become recognized as a model health care district in the State of California and nationally for the effective and innovative services offered, and known locally for its friendly, customer-oriented environment.

Over the course of the past five decades, Camarillo Health Care District has achieved national, state and local recognition as a model health care district, an effective and preferred contract partner in community health, and an innovator and pioneer in care management, social risk factors (social determinants of health), chronic disease management, caregiver services and training, and health promotion and education.

“This District is amazing an amazing agency in its capacity to grow and change with the needs of the community,” states chief executive officer Kara Ralston.  “The last four years alone have been remarkable in the level of innovation and program development as a community-based organization.”   “The goal of all the services of the District is to improve the quality of care, improve overall population health, and help reduce costs.”

“We hope this Open House opportunity will encourage people to come and see what is here for them, get familiar with the buildings and how to use the services,” says Ralston. “If anyone wonders how Camarillo Health Care District fits into their life, please come and stroll through the Adult Day Center, the Caregiver Center, the George & Alda Kroll Library, the exercise areas and classrooms.”

“I couldn’t be prouder to serve the community as the current President of the Board of Directors,” states Christopher Loh, MD.  “The programs and services are consistently effective, adapt to community needs, and the vision of maximizing health and optimizing quality of life remains clear.”
