Depression Screening
A depression screening utilizes the PHQ-9 screening tool, which takes about 30 minutes. Speak with a trained counselor to learn if you're showing symptoms of depression. Understand more about your moods and learn about resources that can help.
The PHq-9 is a "multipurpose instrument for screening, diagnosing, monitoring and measuring the severity of depression" (National Institute of Health), and utilizes a brief self-report tool. The tool rates the frequency of symptoms which factors in the scoring severity index. Question 9 on the PHQ-9 screens for the presence and duration of suicide ideation. A follow-up, non-scored question on the PHQ-9 screens and assigns weight to the degree to which depressive problems have affected the patient’s level of function.”
Camarillo Health Care District's use and/or results of the PHQ-9 is not a diagnosis. It is outside of the District's scope to diagnose. Self-reported answers indicate scores that can be measured against the categories listed on the tool, with further desription. It is imperative that you consult your physician for symptoms of depression.
