Dementia Friendly Ventura County

When memory changes begin, many individuals become isolated, which can hasten further cognitive decline. A new world-wide initiative called "dementia friendly" is focused on intentionally educating communities, businesses, places of worship, shops, workers of all trades, and people of all ages to recognize the signs and symptoms of dementia, in order to support and serve that person and their family. Ventura County has embraced this initiative with the Dementia Friendly Ventura County effort. As a dementia specialty agency, Camarillo Health Care District is proud to serve on the Leadership Team, led by Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, to design the effort's implementation and expansion.

Staff at Camarillo Health Care District are trained in Dementia Live, Dealing with Dementia, Memory Cafes, memory screenings, depression, in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Community Voices Program, and in assisting businesses to achieve Dementia Friendly status. If you would like to become a Dementia Friend, or have a business that is interested in being designated as a Dementia Friendly business, please contact Dementia Friendly email.
