Senior Nutrition Program

Eating a balanced and healthy diet is important at any age, and especially for senior citizens. The Camarillo Health Care District, in partnership with the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) and City of Camarillo, provides residents age 60 and over with two meal program options.

The Senior Lunch Program provides catered meals in a dynamic social setting designed for those 60 and over. This program promotes socialization through conversation and activity. A reservation is appreciated for lunch so we know how much food to order. Grab a friend and come have lunch with us! A spouse or caregiver may accompany the eligible participant with reservation.

A $3.00 suggested donation per meal is asked to support the program.

Home Delivered Meals

Similar to a “Meals on Wheels” program, supplemental ready-to-heat frozen entrees prepared by ConAgra Foods are delivered by dedicated and caring Home Delivered Meals volunteers. Entrée selections include beef, chicken, fish, turkey and other specialty dishes that provide a diverse and balanced low sodium diet designed by the VCAAA Registered Dietitian. Fresh sides such as whole wheat bread, cheese, fruit, salad, yogurt and milk are also included.

In addition to nutrition, the program also assists in the overall safety of clients with periodic visits to assess their welfare and to provide referrals to additional services as needed. Deliveries are made on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the mornings. Applications are taken over the phone.

A $3.00 suggested donation per meal is asked to support the program.
