Caregiver Resource Library

If you and your family have taken on the role of caregiver of a loved one, please know there is a wide variety of information, education and resources to help you during this time of life transition.

The Caregiver Resource Library was established at the Camarillo Health Care District through generous grants from the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging and the CHCD Volunteer Guild. The goal of the Library is to provide convenient, no cost, vital health care information for family caregivers.

Studies have shown that this type of information can increase the caregiver's sense of wellbeing, enhance the caregiving experience, and extend the length of time a caregiver is able to care for their loved one in the home.

The Caregiver Resource Library offers many tools and resources to help minimize a sense of "burnout". The cozy and convenient environment promotes a sense of empowerment, refreshment and education, in a quiet and self-paced manner. The library contains books, videos, and audio tapes on a range of health related topics of particular interest to caregivers, aged 60 and older, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, bathing techniques, guides that provide a road map for balance and self-care, and much more. These items may be reviewed on site, or be checked out for personal viewing as well.

When combined with the District's current caregiver support programs such as the Adult Day Support Program, Lifeline of Ventura County, Senior Lunch Program, and door-to-door Transportation Services, the Caregiver Resource Library is a natural "next step" in the continuum of health and wellness services.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this library, please stop in!
