"The Times They Are A-Changin' " ...Bob Dylan, 1963 Funny...back in 1963, when this popular Bob Dylan song hit the pop charts, it certainly felt like life as we knew it was making definitive changes, whether we wanted it or not. In fact, in the commentaries about this song, Mr. Dylan recalls writing the song "as a deliberate attempt to create an anthem of change for the moment." And even as you read this, things are still a-changin'!
However, in these current times of uncertainty, one thing remains certain. The Camarillo Health Care District is here for you, and we understand that life is only about who and where you are, right now. Regardless of any new and different circumstances that may surround you as this new year approaches, you are still you. And your health matters!
Moving forward into a brand new decade brings us new opportunities to help you maximize your health status. Whether you are living with an ongoing health condition, or you are a caregiver for someone, or whether you simply love someone with a chronic condition, the Camarillo Health Care District has programs and services that can help.
The District's Wellness & Caregiver Resource Center offers a wide variety of important services and resources that can empower you to put the "Life" back into living! In addition to a comprehensive training curriculum for caregivers, the center also offers access to a multitude of community resource specialists relating to managing ongoing health conditions...conveniently in Camarillo!
Partners who will join with the District, at the Wellness & Caregiver Resource Center, include Kaiser Permanente, Ventura County Community College for educational sessions, the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, the Ventura County Public Health Department, the Ventura County Superior Court for legal concerns such as guardianship and conservatorship, Adult Protective Services, Eldercare Management Services, and a variety of home health entities.
Please plan on making the Wellness & Caregiver Resource Center a regular stopping off place in your "life routine." You will be encouraged, uplifted, educated, and empowered. You will find a clean and accessible center with a "real life, hands on" training center for caregivers; computer kiosks with assistance to better understand how to use the internet to your health advantage; one-on-one care consultations with a variety of health disciplines to help you construct a "life plan" customized specifically for you and your situation; and, a team of dedicated and compassionate specialists who will enable you to access the resources you need to enjoy the highest quality of life!
I just know that we can help you, help yourself! I look forward to seeing you!

Facilitator of "Caregiving at Home" Education Series Wellness & Caregiver Resource Center
Sharon Tatelman, Care Consultant at the Camarillo Health Care District, has rapidly become the "face" of the District's successful "Caregiving At Home" Education Series, which is just one of a variety of important services available at the Wellness & Caregiver Resource Center.
Sharon has worked at the District for more than thirteen years, first as the Manager of Adult Day Services, and currently as the Care Consultant, providing one-on-one consultations with clients who are facing life transitions and would like to know more about their options and available resources. She has also developed and facilitates a very popular Caregiver Support Group for Leisure Village residents.
In addition to carrying a lifetime teaching credential, Sharon has also successfully completed 32 hours of a comprehensive curriculum from Stanford University, and is thereby certified by Stanford University to facilitate workshops on health self-management programs.
One of the best ways to measure the success of a program or service is hearing it talked about all over town! And through receiving glowing comments, notes and letters. After completing three "Caregiving at Home" Education Series it is our pleasure to share some of those comments with you.
