Community Mealsite

The Apple-a-Day Café provides freshly prepared, hot meals in a dynamic social setting designed for senior citizens age 60 and older. This program promotes socialization and stimulation and includes educational, informational and fun presentations and activities. The close proximity to the Camarillo Senior Center also invites diners to participate in planned activities such as bingo and card games either before or after lunch. A reservation is required so that we know how much to prepare, so grab a friend and come have lunch with us! A $3.00 per meal donation is suggested in order to continue this important program. A spouse or caregiver may accompany the eligible participant for lunch.

Menu
A delicious and varied menu is prepared daily under the direction of a Registered Dietitian from the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging. Meals at the community center are served fresh and hot, and all meals include bread, cheese or yogurt, fruit, salad, and milk.

In addition to nutrition, the Senior Lunch Program also assists in the safety and wellness of seniors, with periodic visits to all clients to ensure their welfare and provide referral services as needed.

The Senior Lunch Program is funded by the Older Americans Act, the Camarillo Health Care District, and various individual contributions. Participating seniors are also given the opportunity to make a suggested donation.
